If you have never experienced the stomach clenching fear of not knowing, or not having, a roof over your head, you might not know how many other things fall apart when you don’t have a decent place to live.
If you have felt it, you know that there are so many things you could use help with. It might be where the local food bank is, or if there is a counseling service available locally for low-income local residents. You might need help paying for prescriptions, or even where to obtain medical and dental services. Your children might need immunizations or school supplies. You finally got a new job but lost your car, so you need public transportation – is there bus service nearby? Where can you find affordable child care? All these issues are real ones that affect people who are struggling to get out of poverty situations, or difficult financial ones.
We know that helping people find what they need takes burdens off their shoulders and helps them create a stable life. Stability lifts people from poverty, and helps keep families together and makes communities stronger. Our resident services programs are geared to do just that.
At Old Glory we know we cannot do everything by ourselves.
We are great at rebuilding homes that need help and helping people who need a home. We also know that providing resident services that provide good information, referrals, and sets up cooperative programs with other agencies, institutions, community projects such as community gardens, and nonprofits helps our residents by giving them the aide and assistance they need.
A big part of the Old Glory philosophy is inclusion.
That means everyone that needs a decent home and a chance to get back on their feet. We service veterans, disabled people, those going through health challenges, families, seniors, refugees and immigrants – everyone is equal to us. Our company is secular in base and human care in action.
You will receive resident services regardless of your cultural background, personal choices, or faith preferences. None of those are relevant when we sit down to help you rent a home at an affordable price. The only thing that matters to us is helping transform lives one home at a time.
And, if we do not have something you need on our lists or files for the kind of assistance you need, we will try and hunt it down for you. It is just the right thing to do.
