At Old Glory, we believe in giving houses, and people, a fighting chance. For over a decade we have been transforming distressed properties into decent places to live, improving property values and saving resources.
We have also been providing low income, affordable housing opportunities to people who need it the most – seniors, people on disability, immigrants, veterans returning and adapting, single parents trying to keep their children fed, and struggling families.
We have refugees, people in recovery, and just got out of prison. It doesn't matter who you are, where you are from, or what life has handed you, we strongly believe that giving people the opportunity to have a safe, decent home to live in is a basic desire and right.
We know that often people are not given the chance or help up they might need when life gets rough. We decided to make a difference by restoring lives one house at a time.
With the help of our partners, we bring together the people, services, products, education and supporters necessary to nurture and transform one family, one home, and one community at a time.
When You Transform a Life With Decent Housing, Amazing Happens
We are a nonprofit company with responsible business roots. We have seen through our own work what happens when a person is given a second chance, or is able to stay off the street, when they can rent a good home in a decent neighborhood.
They can sleep at night. They can make it to work on time. Their kids tend to improve in school. They take pride in and participate in their community.
All this amazing happens in addition to a house that everyone in the neighborhood wished would go away turns into a nice house in the neighborhood, keeping property values up, and the neighborhood safe.
People have their self-respect return, and the neighborhood gets more respectable. It sounds simple, and it is. And it works.
Old Glory Believes in Community, Partnership – and People
Our program of finding, buying, rebuilding/renovating/remodeling and then renting for an affordable price is not new, but our approach often seems that way.
We do not charge exorbitant fees. There are no hidden costs to apply. We listen and treat each and every applicant with respect and dignity, because they are worthy and entitled to be treated that way.
We provide resident services in every community we serve, and work to partner with local agencies, institutions, and facilities that can provide counseling, health care, food resources, job training, ESOL classes, and whatever else can help the new resident be even more successful on their new path.
We truly believe that given the chance, people that need a home will do the best thing to help get, and keep, that home. Our partnerships help on every level with that hope. People get their lives back, and homes that need TLC get a new life.
We Believe if You Improve the Neighborhood, Everyone Benefits
At Old Glory we know that people who are already in an area are often the best resources we can have to help improve an area. Each city we go to has its own flavor and personality.
We work closely down to the neighborhood level for what needs done, how to best deal with the house at hand so it benefits the street it is on, and what grants, resources, funding programs, and other vehicles are available specific to that location that can further our mission.
Our belief is that as neighborhoods improve, property values go up. As neighbors are given hope, the whole community is lifted up. It is really that simple. We are always seeking partners, property donations, distressed properties to buy, and information on resources for our residents that can help achieve those goals.
For many years the principals at Old Glory were successful remodeling contractors, as well as real estate developers. The more we expanded, the more we realized that affordable housing was sorely unavailable to the vast majority of people who really needed it due to low income, fixed income, or simply needed consideration or a second chance. We knew that the conversation had to be person to person and not just a form that got filled out.
We made a decision to go nonprofit so we are able to help far more people with the resources that are available. If you need affordable housing, or if you agree with our mission and would like to get involved, please contact us. We would really enjoy sharing our dream of transforming lives one house at a time for your community.
